Common questions
Is the TIN the same as a BP number?
ZIMRA’s TaRMS system now issues a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN). Businesses that had a BP number from the old system had to claim their TIN and register on TaRMS.
Why does correct master data matter?
ZIMRA uses your registered email, address, bank and industry details to issue documents such as the tax clearance certificate. Wrong details cause delays later.
Do I also need VAT?
Only if your taxable turnover exceeds, or is likely to exceed, US$25,000 in 12 months — or if you choose to register voluntarily. See VAT registration.
